Elmer W. Dins, 92, of New Holstein, died peacefully on Wednesday December 14, 2011. He was born December 24, 1918 in New Holstein to the late William Dins and Catherine "Katie" (Foertsch) Dins. On July 4, 1942 he married Alice Mathes. He worked at M-B in New Holstein for 44 years where he enjoyed traveling for the company. He served the New Holstein Fire Department for 35 years. Elmer was involved with CCC (Civilian Conservation Core) from 1937-1939. He made a lot of clocks and birdhouses. He was very creative and talented. He loved to play cards, especially sheephead. Survivors include his wife, Alice of New Holstein; a daughter, Carol (Michael) Birosak of Huntley, IL; a grandson, Derek Birosak; a sister, Burnette Nisler of Mount Calvary; a brother, Norman (Rosalie) Dins of New Holstein and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer; 3 sisters; Elsie, Adell, and Estelle; 2 brothers; Alvin and Arno Dins. Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave. in New Holstein. Burial will be in the New Holstein City Cemetery.
