Elmer J. Nett, age 93, of Marytown, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Caring Hands Assisted Living in New Holstein. He was born August 14, 1923, in Marytown to John & Susan (Korb) Nett. Elmer attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Marytown. Elmer served in the Army Air Corp during World War 2 from 1945 – 1946. On October 16, 1945, he married Esther Wagner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. Esther preceded him in death on April 29, 2007. Elmer had worked at the Kiel Woodenware shortly after his marriage. In 1953, he and his wife and family moved onto his parent's farm in the Town of Calumet near Marytown. He had worked for Wagner Welding for 10 years and for 26 years at the Town of Calumet landfill. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown, the Marytown Veterans and the Marytown Athletic Club. Survivors include his three children, Gerald Nett of Stockbridge and his special friend, Beverly Meyers, Kenneth (Janice) Nett of Charlesburg and Karen Nett of St. Peter; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Barbara) Nett, Daniel Nett, Nicole (Dion) Spranger, Jeremy (Faith) Nett, Christa Nett, Brian Nett, Kevin (Rhonda) Nett, Brad (Sindi) Nett, Jason (Heather) Nett, Tina (Aaron) Hanna and Angie Nett; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchild and his brother, Wilfred "Bill" (Anna Mae) Nett of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John & Susan Nett; his wife, Esther Nett; a daughter-in-law, Joy (Schneider) Nett; a son-in-law, Chuck Nett; a grandson, Tim Nett; a great-grandson, Michael Alex Nett; a brother, Alfred (Estella) Nett and Esther's brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown (N10232 County Road G New Holstein, WI 53061). Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap. will officiate. Elmer will be laid to rest next to his wife, Esther, in the parish cemetery.
