Elmer M. Schuh, age 79, of rural Brillion, passed peacefully during his final deer hunt, on Monday, November 21, 2011. Elmer was born on April 7, 1932, son of the late John and Margaret (Braun) Schuh in Calumet County. He attended St. Marys School in Brillion, and served in the Army in Germany from 1952-54. On September 28, 1955, he married Annet Jean Bratz at St. Marys Church, Brillion. Elmer worked at Brillion Iron Works for five years, and then 26 years at Eck Industries, where he retired in 1994. Elmer also raised dairy and beef cattle and farmed with his family in rural Brillion until 1999. Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing with family, friends and neighbors. Elmer would never turn down a good game of sheephead, and was always in on the latest prank. He always took the time to visit with fellow farmers, friends and family whenever he could. Elmer loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elmer enjoyed watching his childrens softball games and the Brillion High School football and basketball games and closely followed the Milwaukee Brewers. He worked diligently to make the backyard garden flourish in his retirement years. Elmer belonged to the Becker Bloedorn Jensen American Legion Post 126 in Brillion, West Maple Grove Hunting Club, National FFA Lifetime Member, Union Local 301, and Holy Family Parish. Survivors include his wife, Annet, their children and families: son, Mike (Carol) Schuh and their children Jason (Tanya) Heimke and Nicole (fianc Joshua) Schuh and their child Danielle; son, Elmer Jr. Butch (special friend Karol Koeck) Schuh and his children Kyle, Kara, and Kayla (Casey) and their child Bailey; daughter, Bonnie (Brad) Martinson and their children Patrick (Mindy) and their children Carter and Lydia, Jennifer (special friend Rodd Reichardt) Siebert and their child, Lily; daughter Betty Schuh; daughter, Donna (Don) Meulemans, and their children Sarah (fianc Joey Zipperer) and Kyle; son, Allen (Kim) Schuh and their children Mackenzie and Ally; daughter, Sandra (Greg) Lee and their children Brooke, Paige, Bryce and Kendra. He is further survived by his brothers, Arnold (Marilyn), Bernard (Nancy) and James (Betty); sisters, Grace Kolbe, Margie Bastian, Mary (special friend Leroy) Reinke, Lucy (Chuck) Meyer. Also, are surviving brothers-in-law Poul Rasmussen and John Schaffer. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Schuh; granddaughter, Amber Doughty; brothers John II, Henry (Lillian); sisters Susie Schaffer and Theresa Rasmussen; brothers-in-law Art Kolbe, Vance Bastian, Leo Reinke and Alden Bratz; sisters-in-law Rita Kaderabek, and Alice Bratz; and father and mother-in-law Herman and Minnie Bratz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass will be Rev. Timothy Brandt with burial at Kasson Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post, Brillion.
