Elsie M. Groeschel Nadler, age 94, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Willowpark Residence where she resided for the past 1 ½ years. The former Elsie Mertens was born May 15, 1919 in Kiel to the late Arthur & Mary (Horsch) Mertens SR. On April 15, 1936, she married Louis Groeschel at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Louis preceded her in death on June 9, 1967. On December 3, 1971, she married Ervin Nadler at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1993. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Survivors include two children, Charles (Verena) Groeschel & Kathleen (Vernon) Freund both of New Holstein; six grandchildren, Allan Groeschel, Kim (James) Ertel, David (Christine) Freund, Paul Freund, Gary (Kara) Freund, Wayne (Carly) Freund; great grandchildren, Rebecca Ertel, Lindsi (Ian) Byrne, Chelsea & Cody Ertel, Megan & Jaclyn Freund, Damon & Isabella Freund; and her brother, Arthur (Shirley) Mertens of Ocala, FL. Preceding her in death were her parents; 1st husband, Louis Groeschel; 2nd husband, Ervin Nadler; a grandson, James Groeschel; a great grandson, Cory Groeschel; her brother, Jerome Mertens; and her sister, Ruby Broehm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman officiating and Parish Director, Joe Zenk assisting. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Marytown.
