Ervin H. Simon, age 93, of rural St. Cloud, "St. Joe" passed away Monday evening, January 16, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born January 25, 1923, in Johnsburg, to the late Mathias and Catherine (Birkholz) Simon. On August 28, 1946, he married Betty Weber at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Betty preceded him in death on June 16, 2003. Ervin farmed in the Town of Marshfield in St. Joe until his retirement. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Parish-St. Joseph Church. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his son, David (Karen) Simon of Campbellsport, two daughters, Janet (Thomas) Kwarciany of Newton and Carol Simon of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe"; six grandchildren, Lorie (Brent) Gulash, Lisa Kwarciany (Casey Brennan), Dan (Steph) Simon, Jeff (Kayla) Simon, Eric Simon, and Emily Simon; three great-grandchildren, Alex and Ryan Gulash, and Trudy Simon. Ervin is further survived by nephews; nieces; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Catherine Simon; his wife, Betty; a son Ronald Simon; a daughter, Julie Simon; five sisters, Lovina Schmitz, Virginia Bittner, Rosalia Rieder, Adell Peters, and Marie Bleuel; three brothers, Leo Simon, Fr. Martin Simon, and Louis Simon. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Isidore Parish-St. Joseph Church, W620 County Road G St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Oliver Bambenek, OFM Cap. will officiate. Ervin will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty, in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe.
