Estelle M. Walber, age 95, formerly of Marytown, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein. Estelle Fassbender was born August 12, 1922, to Anton & Margaret (Muellenbach) Schoenborn Fassbender. She attended Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Grade School in Marytown. Estelle also attended vocational school and MPTI in Fond du Lac and attended night classes at New Holstein High School. In her younger years, she worked as a mother's helper, housekeeper, and in a defense plant in Milwaukee during World War II. Later on, she could be found working as a bartender or waitress at various restaurants. On June 17, 1947, she married Emil Walber at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marytown; Emil preceded her in death on January 29, 2003. Estelle was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marytown and a life-long member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was an Eucharistic Minister and served on the Human Concerns committee. Estelle also belonged to the Marytown Homemakers Club, served as a 4-H Leader for many years and a member of the Army Service Forces Women's Volunteer Committee. Her passion was sewing, quilting, crafting and tailoring. She loved making quilts for her family as well as for various fund raising events. Her proudest accomplishment was making the vestments & altar cloths for the parish. Survivors include her seven children, Margaret "Shortie" (Tony) Mueller of Chilton, Peter (Barb) Walber of Chilton, Anthony Walber of Plymouth, Mark (Christine) Walber of Wausau, WI, Jonathan (Lori) Walber of Niagara, WI, Mary Walber of Chilton, and Christopher Walber (Charissa Marquardt) of Mount Calvary; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Vissers of Little Chute, Mary Jane Walber of New Holstein and Ivis Walber of Amherst Junction; brother-in-law, Robert (Betty) Walber of Green Bay; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Emil; half-sister, Rose (Jake) Marx; brother, Alex (Elyce) Fassbender; brothers-in-law, Lester Walber, Clifford (Rita) Walber, Donald (Mae) Walber, Lloyd Walber, Lyle Hein, and Dennis Vissers and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph & Anna Walber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marytown (N10232 County Road G, New Holstein, WI 53061). Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Estelle will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery.
