Obituary

Eugene "Gene" A. Gross, age 72, of rural New Holstein "St. Anna", passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born December 17, 1949, in Sheboygan to the late Alden & Gertrude (Heus) Gross. Gene graduated from New Holstein High School in 1969. On December 9, 1972, he married Patricia "Pat" Schneider at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Gene was employed with the Kohler Company until his retirement in 2015. Gene was a member of the St. Anna Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years; serving as second and first assistant chief over his career. Although Gene was not a carpenter by trade, he did enjoy helping family and friends with remodeling projects or any other project that needed an extra hand. Gene enjoyed giving lawn mower rides to his grandchildren. He enjoyed mowing the lawn at the St. Anna Firemen's Park. Survivors include his wife, Pat; his four children, Lisa Gierke (Dave Pennings) of Kiel, Steve "Huggie" Gross of St. Anna, Jessica Gross (Ryan Peters) of St. Anna, and Jennifer Gross (Matt Boelk) of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren, Cassandra Gierke (fiancé, Casey Klotz), Jacob Gierke, Mason Gross, Jaxson Woelfel, Taylor Gross, Addie Gross, Landon Gross, and Kane Rost; his sisters, Marie Koeser of St. Anna, Dorothy Schreiber of New Holstein, Ruth Ann Diedrich of Chilton, and Barbara Anderson of Sheboygan; his sister-in-law, Lynn (Richard) Brunnbauer of Sheboygan Falls; a brother-in-law, Joseph Marver of Sheboygan; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alden & Gertrude Gross; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Fredrick & Patricia Schneider; his brothers-in-law, Merlyn "Pinto" Koeser, Norbert Schreiber, Russell Diedrich, and Mike Anderson; his sister-in-law, Cathy Marver; three nephews; one niece; and a great nephew. Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI 53061. Gene will be laid to rest in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in St. Anna. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Gene's family at the Sippel Funeral Home Thursday, April 21st from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
