Eugene "Gene" R. Rieder, age 74, of St. Cloud, passed away with his loving wife, daughter, and granddaughter at his side on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. Gene was born September 3, 1944 in St. Cloud to the late Walter & Henrietta (Schmitt) Rieder. On September 26, 1964, he married Shirley Zupke at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Gene had worked at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein for 42 years until his retirement. He enjoyed sturgeon spearing, fishing, and tending to his garden. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his daughter, Kerry Rieder-McLaughlin and her husband, Ken McLaughlin of Montgomery, IL; two grandchildren, Devin & Cassandra McLaughlin; his brothers and sister, Marian Blazer of Fond du Lac, James (Chris) Rieder of Sheboygan, Francis Rieder and his special friend, Ivonne Hau, of Fond du Lac, and Joseph (Karen) Rieder of Fond du Lac. Gene is further survived by his brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 25th at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 5:45 PM. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac. Memorials in Gene's name may be directed to the family for cancer research.
