Florence Catherine (Gau) Lefeber, age 89, of St. Cloud passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
The former Florence Gau was born January 22, 1924, in the Town of Forest to the late Joseph & Frances (Kraus) Gau.
On September 1, 1942, she married Roy J. Lefeber of St. Joe at St. Cloud Catholic Church; the couple celebrated 71 years of marriage just a few weeks ago.
Florence was a farm wife most of her life. She also worked at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein and Bartel's Mink Farm in Marytown. Florence volunteered at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary making quilts and quilting with the area ladies from St. Joe for 12 years. Florence loved cutting the lawn, growing her garden, but most of all, taking care of her growing family. She and her husband traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, and went on bus tours around the United States.
She was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Roy; her five sons, Gordon Lefeber, Paul (Janice) Lefeber, and Michael (Annette) Lefeber all of St. Cloud, James (Leasa) Lefeber of Fond du Lac and Joseph (Linda) Lefeber of Las Vegas, Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Cecelia (Lester) Schmitz of Plymouth; and two brothers, Bernard (Marge) Gau of Fond du Lac and Br. John Gau OFM Cap of Appleton.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph & Frances Gau; an infant daughter, Diane Ann; two sisters, Margaret Sippel and Mary Anna Endejohn; and three brothers, Joseph, Elmer, and Arthur Gau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 30, 2013, at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from Noon-4:00 PM and again on Monday, morning from 9-10:00 AM when brief rites will be held. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:00 PM.
