Obituary

Florence C. Mand, 91, formerly of Malone, died Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009, at Grancare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac. She was born November 30, 1918, in Johnsburg to the late John & Louisa Kohlman Karls. Florence attended St. John's Grade School in Johnsburg. On February 14, 1946, she married Albert J. Mand at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg; he preceded her in death on November 26, 2006. In addition to caring for her family and home, Florence had cooked at the Community Hall in Mount Calvary, Volunteered at the Villa Loretto, and was the main organizer in preparing food and refreshments for the Blood Drives held in the Holy Land area. Florence truly loved cooking and baking and in watching others enjoy her dishes and treats. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary and the Christian Women's Society. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Patty (Peter) Laundre of Brookfield and Mary Helen Beck of Sun Prairie; 6 grandchildren, Bryan (Christine) Laundre, Kevin (Amy) Laundre, Jeffrey (Stephanie), Kristina Laundre and her special friend Tyler, Michael Beck and Jamie (Ben) Watkins; 4 great-grandchildren, Charles & Sophia Laundre and Joseph & Collin Laundre; a special niece, Linda Mand of Fond du Lac; 2 sisters, Leona Schneider of Pipe and Francine (Tony) Schmitz of North Fond du Lac; her brother, Roger (Lyla) Karls of Johnsburg; a sister-in-law, Vangie Karls of Fond du Lac and 3 brothers-in-law, Gilbert (Germaine) Mand of Mount Calvary, Wally Mand of Marytown and Francis (Susan) Mand of Zionsville, Indiana. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Clemens and Ben Karls, and 3 sisters, Viola Forstner, Clara Dreifuerst and Lou Mueller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 4, 2010, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 308 County Road W, Mount Calvary. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, on Sunday, January 3 from Noon to 4:00 PM and Monday morning, January 4; visitation will be at Holy Cross Church from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
