Florence M. Michels, age 93, formerly of St. Cloud died peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born September 12, 1917 in Taycheedah a daughter to the late Peter & Elizabeth (Schmitz) Mand. On October 16, 1941, she married Alex Michels at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Peter. Alex preceded her in death in 1998. Florence and her husband farmed in the Town of Forest near St. Cloud before moving to the village of St. Cloud. In addition, she enjoyed working and volunteering at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church and the Christian Women's Society. Survivors include her five children, Mary (James) Roltgen of Eden, Diane (Robbie) Robinson of Fond du Lac, Tom (Judy) Michels of St. Cloud, Joan (James) Raether of Beaver Dam, and Chris (Joe) Bonlender of Campbellsport; 10 grandchildren, James Scott (Lisa) Roltgen, Paul (Jennifer) Roltgen, Rebecca (Brian) Buss, Sean (Chuck Mason) Robinson, Brian (Jodi) Michels, Brenda (Scott) Sabel, Beth Michels (fiancé, Hans Schafhaufer), Michael (Jenny) Bonlender, Sara Bonlender and her special friend, Erik O'Brien, and Brett Bonlender; 15 great-grandchildren Mitchell, Lucas, & Katie Roltgen, Alison & Owen Roltgen, Dawson & Donovan Buss, Lexie & Maddie Sabel, Olivia, Ethan & Alex Michels, Carter & Ryan Bonlender, Emmett Gonnering. Also surviving are four brothers, Ray (Mary) Mand, Alfred "Fritz" (Esther) Mand, Servie (Marie) Mand, & Leo (Irene) Mand; three sisters, Genevieve Koplin, Marie (Wilfred) Abler, and Virginia (Adolph) Schneider. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Alex; her brothers & sisters-in-law, Al (Lydia) Mand, Ambrose (Agnes) Mand; her in-laws, Emil Koplin, Louise (Albert) Sippel, Agnes (Carl) Hess, Wendelin (Betty) Michels, Edmund Michels, Ray (Laska) Michels, Al (Dorothy) Michels, Sylvester Michels, Marie (Ervin) Stephany, Ann (Dick) Hochrein, and Freda (Leander) Abler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street in Fond du Lac. Rev. Bernard Sippel, a nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery in St. Cloud. Family and friends may call at the St. Francis Home Chapel on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Francis Home or to the St. Agnes Hospital Hospice Hope.
