Obituary

Florence Anna Roeck entered eternal life on October 24, 2013 at age 94. A life-long resident of New Holstein, she was born January 28, 1919 to Meta (Glassnapp) and John F. Roeck. Florence was a numbers whiz. She was the dedicated long-time Secretary-Treasurer/controller of M-B Corporation in New Holstein. Starting work at age 18, she reluctantly left her job only because of mandatory retirement. She belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ where she served as secretary, treasurer, and editor of the bulletin. She had also served on the church council and was a member of the Bible Study group and the Women's Fellowship. A stylish woman, she was always well dressed, loved violets, the color yellow, golf, jazz, decorating for the holidays, tending her garden, and collecting beautiful things including Hummel's and glassware. Florence spent many happy hours on her porch watching the birds. However, the warmest place in her heart was for her cats. Mork and Mindy, who brought her great comfort to the very end, survive her. Florence was met in heaven by her parents; her sister Gertrude Kautzer; brothers Herbert (Fritz) and Alan; nephews Owen Kautzer and Jason Roeck; niece Linda (Kautzer) Wendt; and other relatives and friends. She is survived by nieces and a nephew who knew her as "Umma": Nancy Kautzer of Fond du Lac, Mary Roeck of Milwaukee, Pauline DeLong of Kerrville TX, Anne Roeck of Whitewater, John Roeck of San Antonio TX, Karen Brandt of Dousman, Donna Roeck of Riverbank CA, Kristine Larkin of Cedarburg, and Lisa Warren of Shippensburg PA. She is also survived by sister-in-law Ardell Roeck of Shippensburg PA, and cousins Rev. Philip Meili of New Holstein, Louis Glassnapp of Fond du Lac and Vernon Glassnapp of St Paul MN. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. John United Church of Christ 2111 Church Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. James E. Werner will officiate.
