Obituary

Frances Clare Eiring, 97, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at Poplar Place Assisted Living in Rothschild, Wisconsin. She was born August 12, 1917 to Will and Augusta (nee Pickart) Phalen. On June 3, 1941, she married Irwin Eiring who preceded her in death on January 28, 2012. Frances Clare and Irwin resided in St. Cloud where they raised their family of 8 children and owned and operated the Eiring Lumber Yard (later Lefeber and Eiring). In the early years, in between raising children, Frances Clare would help Irwin at the Lumber yard when needed. She was the Postmaster in St. Cloud for 18 years, a member of the Christian Women's Society, and the St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary. In 1987 they moved to Fond du Lac. After retirement, she and Irwin took art classes and have created lasting memories with their paintings: many depicting the various 'Holyland' churches. Throughout her life, Frances was very active and enjoyed bowling, golfing, water aerobics, traveling, playing cards, crafts and volunteering at Villa Loretta and St. Francis Home. Attendance at local plays, concerts and dances continued throughout the years. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. The smell of fresh bakery filled the kitchen every Saturday morning and her chili on cold winter nights was the best. She always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a positive, caring attitude. Frances Clare is survived by seven children, Sue Ellen (Thomas) Ricklefs of Wausau WI, John (Debra) Eiring of Edgemont SD, Thomas (Bonita) Eiring of Campbellsport WI, Carol (Wilbert) Haase of Seymour MO, Gene Eiring of Custer SD, James (Cynthia) Eiring of Augusta GA and Jay (Leslie) Eiring of Barrington IL, 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Eiring. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 3 brothers (Merle, Miles and Marty), a son (William) and grandson (Troy) Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church.
