Genevieve A. Ambrosius, age 88, of Brillion, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, surrounded by her family.

Gen was born on November 18, 1927 in the town of Buchanan, daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Nytes) Verbeten.  She was a graduate of Wrightstown High School, class of 1946.  She was employed at the Drug Store in Wrightstown before her marriage.  On June 7, 1949, Gen married Robert T. Ambrosius at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown.   He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002.  Gen was a homemaker, but that didn’t mean she stayed in the same spot for very long.  Besides raising their children, she was the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Coordinator for 16 years, was a member of the Christian Mothers, received the Marian Award for her volunteering, taught religious education, helped organize the Cursillo Retreats, was an organist for St. Mary’s Catholic Church, cooked for the Priests and Sisters at the church, was a current member of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Brillion, and pretty much did anything to help.   Gen and Bob enjoyed golfing, anywhere. They participated in couples golfing leagues and enjoyed traveling south during the winter. The couple also was very active in the Brillion Area Jaycees and JayCeets, the Brillion Optimist Club, held season tickets and were avid Green Bay Packer Fans, and loved to spend time with their family.

Gen is survived by her six children and their families:  daughter, Carolyn (Dennis) Miller of Brillion and their children: Jeffrey (Amy) of Appleton, Christopher (Michelle) of Coral Springs, FL, and Daniel (Monica) of Long View, TX; daughter, Barbara (Dan) Delforge of Green Bay and their children: Nathan (May Ling) of New York, Rachel (Kent) Downs of Green Bay, Andrew of North Chicago, and Rebecca (Aaron) Reed of Ashland, OR; son, Michael (Cheryl) Ambrosius of Long Prairie, MN and their children: Melissa (Michael) Terwey of Long Prairie, MN, Mary, Carolyn (Patrick) Olson, both of Minneapolis, MN, and Nicholas of St. Paul, MN; son, Mark (Sandy) Ambrosius of Brooklyn, WI and their children: Aaron of Oconto Falls and Brenda of St. Joe, MI; son, Gregory (Chris) Ambrosius of Iola and their children: Emily of Green Bay, Danielle and Tayler; and son, Stephen (Rebecca) of O’Fallon, MO and their child Adam of St. Joe, MO; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother: Germaine Smith of Wrightstown, Marie Thiel of Appleton, and Luke Verbeten of Wrightstown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clara (Kenny) Kamps of Wrightstown, Marlin (Marilyn) Ambrosius of DePere, Phyllis Ambrosius of DePere, and Carl “Kelly” Verstegen of Little Chute, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.  Gen was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Mary, her husband Bob, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Marie (Minten) Ambrosius, a brother, Mark Verbeten, sisters-in-law, Frances Verbeten and Eunice Verbeten, brothers-in-law, Doug Smith and Earl Thiel, and other relatives.
