Genevieve "Geny" M {Hilt} Kraus, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Villa Rosa Assisted Living in Mt. Calvary on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was born on January l, 1927, in the Mt. Calvary area, a daughter to Raymond and Agnes {Gundert} Hilt / Birschbach. She attended Holy Cross Grade School in Mt. Calvary. On April 23, 1947 she married Joseph F. Kraus at Holy Cross Church. They lived and worked the Kraus Homestead Farm in the St. Peter area. She was a member of Holy Family Parish St. Peter Catholic Church in St Peter. She was a member of St. Peter Altar and Rosary Society. She loved gardening, especially flowers. She enjoyed doing crafts and looked forward to playing games and cards, especially Skip-Bo, with family and friends. She loved music and dancing. She volunteered for whoever needed her, the church, family, friends, and at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home. Those Genevieve leaves behind to cherish her memories include her 11 children: her three sons James {Linda} Kraus, of Malone, Donald {Kathy} Kraus of Ogema and Mark { Kathy} Kraus of Fond du Lac; eight daughters, Mary "Jeannie" {Richard} Schroeder of Marytown, Linda {Edward} Scannell of Armstrong, Betty {Kenneth} Pitzen, Nancy {Paul} Diederichs, Kathy {Tom} Diederichs of Malone, Annie Kraus, Helen {Jim} Stenz of Fond du Lac, Joyce {Jim} Gaulke of Coloma, and son-in-law Mike Scannell of Armstrong. 39 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way. A brother Lawrence {Eileen} Birschbach; a sister Rosemary {Norman} Loehr; 2 sisters-in-laws – Theresa Hilt and Jeannine Birschbach; 2 brothers-in-law – Wilbert Kraus, Ben{Mary Jane} Kraus; many nieces, nephews, godchildren and special friends Dorothy Kraus, Rosemary Schmitz, and Burnette Nisler. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her daughter Rose Scannell, granddaughter Kim Scannell, great granddaughter Amelia Wilk; her brothers Jerome (Bernetta) Birschbach, Leonard Hilt, Raymond Hilt; in-laws, Mary Ann (Robert) Giebel, Albert (Ann) Kraus, Margaret (Leander) Buechel, and Lillian Kraus. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Holy Family Parish-St. Peter Church in St. Peter, N8079 Church Road, Malone, WI 54049. Geny will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph in the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday April 13th at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057 and visitation will be Saturday, April 14th at St. Peter Church from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. PLEASE NOTE, VISITATION IS FRIDAY EVENING AT HOLY CROSS IN MOUNT CALVARY AND SATURDAY MORNING AT ST. PETER CHURCH IN ST. PETER. The Family thanks those who cared for Geny these past years, especially Sister Servants of Christ the King, the wonderful care givers at Villa Rosa and Hospice.
