Gerald ''Gerry'' E. Schultz, age 83, of New Holstein, passed away with his family at his side at his home on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
He was born November 18, 1939 at home in Dodge County to Emil & Dorothy (Bloedow) Schultz. Gerry graduated from Lomira High School in 1957. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving from June 7, 1957, until being discharged on December 6, 1960. Gerry proudly flew, with his son, Jim as his guardian, to Washington DC on the Honor Flight sponsored entirely by Snap-On Tools in September of 2022.
On June 15, 1963, he married Judith Wirth at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira.
Gerry worked for the former Leverenz Shoe Factory in New Holstein and retired from Amerequip Mfg. in Kiel.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. He was also a 51 year member of the New Holstein Lions Club (joining in July 1971). Gerry received the distinguished Melvin Jones Fellowship Award on February 6, 2014. He served as the Lions president for two terms, served on the board of directors, transported eye tissue for the Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank, and faithfully assisted with the Special Olympics held yearly by the Wisconsin State Lions.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; his two children, Jim (Pat) Schultz of rural New Holstein ''Marytown'' and Sue (Paul) Kapellen of New Holstein; six grandchildren, Steve (Stephanie) Schultz, Sarah (Dominic) Bouressa, Tyler (Heidi) Schultz, Elizabeth Kapellen, Matthew Kapellen, and Katherine Kapellen; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Roger (Linda) Schultz; his sister, Rita Schuldt; his sister-in-law, Shirley Schultz; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil & Dorothy Schultz; his brother, Gordon Schultz; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Eugene & Celia Wirth; and his sister-in-law, Mary Kathryn Miller.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Carl Diederichs will officiate.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Gerry's family at the Sippel Funeral Home on Saturday, January 14th from 9:00 AM until 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for the Wisconsin State Lions Camp at Rosholt, WI.
Gerry's family expresses their sincere appreciation to Ascension at Home and Calumet County Hospice for the wonderful care given to Gerry and compassion shown to us.
