Gerald "Jerry" Bastian

July 31, 1939 — February 28, 2013

Jerry Bastian, age 73, of Hilbert passed away Thursday, February 28 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born July 31, 1939, son of the late Lawrence and Myrtle Bastian. He served in the United States Army at Fort Knox, KY. After serving in the Army, he started Brillion Wrecking with his father, which he eventually took over and ran for 32 years. Jerry proudly started GMB Trucking with his son Jason, retiring in 2001. Jerry enjoyed spending quality time at Hwy 57 Garage with his two sons Sean and Jason. He loved playing mechanic and making things work. He was also awaiting the birth of his second great-grandchild. Survivors include his children, Sean (Brenda) Bastian of Brillion, Jason Bastian of Hilbert; one sister, Kathy (Jim) Lane of Brillion; two brothers, Tom (Anita) Bastian of Oregon and Mark (Lonie) Bastian of Brillion; three grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Drumm, Jordan and Paige Bastian; one great-granddaughter, Reese Drumm; one niece, Darcy (Frank) Jones, IL; six nephews, TJ (Kris) and Jeremy (Tyanne) Bastian, Terry and Jeff Lane, and Jared and Jaden Bastian, all of Brillion, and the mother of his children, Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Myrtle Bastian and a brother Dennis. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A prayer sendoff will be officiated by Ron Hanna at 4:00 p.m. Military Rites will be accorded by the Becker Bloedorn Jensen American Legion Post #126 of Brillion.
