Gerald E. Winkel, age 68, of New Holstein, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1950, at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, to the late Roland & Cledonia (Casper) Winkel. As a child, Jerry grew up in St. Nazianz until his family moved to New Holstein in August of 1961. Jerry graduated from New Holstein High School. Jerry worked at the former Arps Corp and Ameriquip until retiring after 43 years of employment. Jerry would always be found at the New Holstein High School sporting events which earned him the nickname "Coach". Survivors include his brother, Eugene H. (Judy) Winkel of New Holstein; his nephew, Rob Winkel of Appleton; his niece, Wendy (Brian) Heimermann of Kiel; his great-niece, Brienne Heimermann of Tomah; his great-nephew, Cody Heimermann of New Holstein. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Roland & Cledonia Winkel. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein, WI 53061, on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM; followed by a short prayer service at the funeral home.
