Gerhardt C. Spietz, age 93, of Brillion, passed away on December 29, 2018 at Garrow Villa in Brillion.
Gerhardt was born on June 24, 1925 in Wrightstown, son of the late George and Sadie (Zuelke) Spietz. He was a graduate of Wrightstown High School, class of 1943. On September 3, 1948, Gerhardt married Rogene Krause in Seymour, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2008. Gerhardt farmed early in his life. During his farming years, he also worked at the Brillion Iron Works, and after the farm sold in 1965, he continued working at BIW until his retirement in 1987. Gerhardt had a passion for old trains, collecting stamps and coins, playing sheepshead, and traveling all over the world to visit his family. He had a great respect and honor for our country, and he volunteered his time by putting together model aircraft replicas for use. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Gerhardt is survived by his children and spouses: Linda Benner of Amberg, David (Lois) of Saukville, Luanne White of Hopkins, MN, Mark (Jane) of Oshkosh, and Susan Spietz of Amberg; grandchildren: Bill Benner, III, Christopher (Candi) Spietz, Rebecca (Paul) Clements, Katherine Spietz, Nathan (Sara) White, Shawn (Lauren) White, Lindsey (fiancé Ryan Hamann) Spietz, and Alicia Spietz; 13 great-grandchildren: Clayton, Jayden, Jonathan, Paxton, Kennidi, Ty, Austyn, Malachi, Elijah, Naomi, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Evelyn; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lorraine (Cliff) Conrad of Shiocton, Caroline Schiesel of Greenleaf, and Darwin (Mary) Krause of Suamico; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rogene, one son, Larry, two grandchildren, Robert and Tanya Benner, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Ronald Schiesel, Robert Krause, Marlene Schmidt, and Ruth (Robert) Spietz.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Wieting Funeral Home, 215 S. Main St. in Brillion. Officiating will be the Rev. Ross Henzi and Rev. Phil Janisch. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Wrightstown.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, January 5 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
