Obituary

Germaine Lucilla Mand, 100, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025. Knowing our mother, she is already tending God's floral gardens in Heaven alongside her husband Gib, son Tom and her infant daughter whom she fondly called "Tessie". Germaine was born August 17, 1924 in the town of Brothertown, Calumet Co, WI the daughter of Bruno and Clara (Freund) Schneider. She attended school in Jericho, WI, worked at Laveranz Shoe Factory until her marriage to Gilbert Mand on May 23, 1944 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, WI. Gilbert preceded her in death in 2013 after 69 years of marriage. She was a member of the Mt Calvary Christian Mothers since 1944 and a member of the Mt Calvary American Legion Auxiliary,

As a woman of strong faith, she respected all of God's creation alike down to the smallest blossom to brighten someone's day. For years people traveling through Mt Calvary would stop to admire her floral gardens, asking for plants or seeds. Growing up in the Depression taught Mom to be respectful of what God had given her. Although she couldn't bring herself to ever eat Johnny Cake! Mom and Dad loved to travel after retiring from farming.

After Dad's Alzheimer's diagnosis, Mom promised Gib she would care for him at home as long has she was able to. This dedication enabled them to be together another 10 years before Dad went to the Villa Loretto Nursing Home.

Surviving are 7 children, and 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren & 1 step-great grandchild: Bob (Jan) Mand, their sons Mike & Jeff (Amy) Mand; Tom's son Ben (Jodi) Mand, stepson Tony(Lori) Gerner; Dennis Mand, his children Sara, Kevin (Carrie) Mand; Paul (Betty) Mand, their children Patrick (Niki) and Rachel Mand; Margaret (Rev.
