Gilbert "Gib" J. Meier, age 92, of New Holstein passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Willowpark Place in New Holstein. He was born February 24, 1922, in Brothertown to the late Richard & Mary (Steiner) Meier. Gib attended St. Charles Catholic Grade School in Charlesburg. On September 12, 1946, he married Marian Leitner at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Charlestown. Marian preceded him in death on October 5, 1989. Gib had worked at the Kohler Company until his retirement in 1987. After Gib's retirement he did some traveling to Germany, Alaska and Disney World. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein where he sang with the church choir and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his four children; Sharon (Damian) Warther of Cedarburg, Patricia Hacker of Sister Bay, Thomas Meier of Milwaukee and his significant other Mary Edwards, and Laura (Daniel) Beil of Hilbert; his eight grandchildren; Sean (Natalie) Warther, Gretchen (Justin) McGowan, Samuel Hacker, Sarah (Mike) Leb, Jason (Jenny) Meier, Alicia Meier, Dylan Beil, and Devan Beil; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Meier and Gwendolyn Meier; his three sisters; Rose Wettstein of Chilton, Hildegarde (Leonard) Heimerman of Chilton "Marytown", and Janet (Nick) Steinmetz of Chilton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his six brothers; Zeno, Clarence, Severin, Orville, Alvin, and Patrick; his two sisters-Isabelle Stemper and Irene Hoerth; and his special friend Elsie Mueller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery after the Mass.
