Gordon N. Seichter, 71, of New Holstein died at home on February 16, 2010. He was born on December 4, 1938 in the city of New Holstein, son of the late Martin and Helen (Schneider) Seichter.
He attended school in New Holstein until going in to the Marines in 1955 where he served until 1958. He married Janet Binversie on April 30, 1960 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. Gordon worked at Tecumseh Products from 1958 until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed his family, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Outdoor Club, Fishing Club of Brothertown and the New Holstein American Legion Post 124. After retirement he enjoyed fixing lawn mowers as a hobby. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Janet of New Holstein; seven children Martin (Mary) Seichter of rural Valders, Jacqueline (Michael) Zyderveld of Fort Myers, FL, Jeff Seichter and fiancé Wendi Hermsen of Appleton, Judy (Troy) Williams of New Holstein, Donald Seichter of Fond du Lac, Laura (Dave) Wirth of Merton and David (Roxann) Seichter of Gilbert, AZ. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren, two brothers Dan (Joan) Seichter, Jerry (Mary Jane) Seichter both of Fond du Lac and a sister Mary Ann Seichter of New Holstein. He is further survived by Aunt Marie Muenster of New Holstein and numerous in-laws Vern Vogel, Herman Binversie, Robert Binversie, Stanley (Kay) Binversie, Faye Binversie all of Kiel, Lester Klingeisen of Clarks Mills, Irene (Jim) Ziegelbauer, Virginia (Dean) Brennan all of Manitowoc, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Seichter, his sister Janice Vogel his mother and father in-law Henry and Elizabeth Binversie and several in-laws Florence Binversie, Janet Binversie, Leona (George) Ziegebauer, Dolores Klingeisen, and Eugene Binversie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman, Pastor, will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 – 11:00am. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:45 pm.
The family would like to thank all those that helped to care for Gordon, prayed for him, visited, sent food, called and made the process easier on all of us. Special thanks to Diane Dyer who assisted us through-out his battle with cancer.
