Gordon Z. Stemper, age 88, of New Holstein, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, with his family at his side. He was born May 16, 1933, in New Holstein to Hugo & Isabel (Meier) Stemper. Gordon graduated from New Holstein High School in 1951. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and U. W. Madison. Gordon was drafted into the US Army in 1956. He initially training started at Fr. Gordon, Georgia and later at Ft. Leonard Wood. He attended US Army Southwestern Signal School in 1957 where he was an instructor in field radio repair. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to his parent's farm where he helped them and eventually purchased the farm from them in 1967. He and his wife retired in 1988 and sold the family farm in 2006. On October 3, 1961, he married Anna Mae Wendel. Gordon & Anna Mae enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, where they spent the winter season. He belonged to the bowling league at the Beacon, enjoyed playing cards, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae; his two children, Alan Stemper of New Holstein and Paula Stemper of Oak Creek; his grandson, Adam (Megan) Stemper; his great-granddaughter, Serenity; his sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Arlene Schneider, Joan (Tom) Hess, Glenn Wendel, and Lois (Steve) Arenz. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other family members, and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his son, Greg; his parents, Hugo & Isabel; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edward & Martha Wendel.
