Gordon "Gordy" S. Schwarz, age 74, of rural New Holstein, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 25, 2022.
He was born November 8, 1947, in Sheboygan, to Gregor & Genrose (Schmitz) Schwarz. Gordy attended New Holstein High School.
On April 27, 1974, he married his best friend, JoAnn Schultz, in Plymouth. Gordy spent most of his working career at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein and retired when the plant closed.
Gordy was an avid outdoorsman. He was known to be one of the best jig fisherman to fish Winnebago and Green Bay. He fished tournaments for over 30 years but more recently, he loved to fish with his family and friends. Hunting was also a life-long passion of his. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, you could find him out and about looking for hunting or fishing reports or spending time with his wife and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; his two children, Michael (Sara) Schwarz of Kiel and Jennifer (Amy) Schwarz of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Joshua, Melanie, Devyn, and Bruce; his siblings, John Schwarz, Gregory Jr. (Cathy) Schwarz, Mary (Duane) Haensgen, Rose (Terry) Wehse, and Kristine (Luke) Vander Velde; his brother-in-law, Wayne (Beth) Schultz; and his sister-in-law, Karen (Dan) Halbach. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many great friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Gregor & Genrose Schwarz; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Vincent & Isabel Schultz; a brother-in-law, Gerald Schultz; and a great-niece, Emma Schwarz.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI 53061.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Gordy's family at the Sippel Funeral Home Saturday, April 2nd from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Gordy's family wishes to express their heart-felt appreciation to the New Holstein First Responders, Kiel Ambulance Service, Calumet County Sheriff's Department, the ER Staff at Ascension Calumet Hospital, and the loving care from the nurses at Davita Dialysis Centers in Chilton and Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
