Grace Bartel, age 86, formerly of Hilbert, died on Fri. May 21, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born on March 16, 1924 in the Town of Rockland, daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (Chizek) Jerabek. On June 5, 1943 she married Clarence Bartel at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville. She farmed with her husband in the Town of Rockland until 1956 when they moved to Hilbert. Grace then worked for several cheese factories in the Hilbert area. She loved her birds, working in her flower garden, making rosaries for the missions, but most of all she loved to cook and bake for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Grace was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Survivors include her husband Clarence of Chilton, a daughter Donna Bennin of Appleton, a son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Karla Bartel of Chilton, 7 grandchildren, Erica (Bill) Szczepanski, Kelly (Brad) Hieptas, Jason Bennin, Beka, Chris, Nic, and Elizabeth Bartel. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Ron Bennin, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thur. May 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Phillip Dinh Van Thiep will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Hilbert. Friends may call at the church on Thur. from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
