Harland F. Lau, age 76, of 431 Madison St., Reedsville died on Monday, August 2, 2010. He was born November 2, 1933 in the town of Rockland, son of the late Clarence and Rose (Fuhrmann) Lau. He married Darlyene Reinke on September 20, 1958 in Reedsville. Harland joined the U.S. Army in January of 1954 and did his basic training at Fort Leonardwood where he did crane and shovel work. He then served in Korea until November of 1955. After his discharge he worked at Kohler Company, Brillion Iron Works and farmed. He and Darlyene served as groundskeepers and janitors at St. John St. James Lutheran School and Church. After he retired from farming Harland worked at Gruetts in Potter building chopper wagons. Harland and Darlyene have touched the lives of many people by being foster parents to children and adults. He was a lifetime member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville, the Kubale-OConnell VFW Post # 6179 of Kellnersville and the Reedsville Sportsmans Club. Survivors include his wife Darlyene, his children Dennis Lau of Reedsville, Denise (David) Kuehlmann of Sheboygan, Dean Lau of Wayside, Ken (Cheryl) Lau of Reedsville, foster sons: David (Mary) Koehler of Hortonville, Donnie (Charolette) Polifka of Two Rivers, grandchildren: Jacob Lau of Reedsville, Rose Lau (Alex) of Madison, Adam Lau and fianc Nichole Rodewald of Manitowoc, Kris (Dan) Turcotte of Milwaukee, Jackie (Mike) Skroch of Holmen, Bradley Lau of Reedsville, Zachary Lau of Appleton, Dustin (Erica) Koehler of Greenville, Dylan Koehler of Hortonville, great grandchildren: Hunter and Paige Lau, Ellie Turcotte, Grant and Hailey Koehler, Mason Gallas, a brother Jerome (Diane) Lau of Reedsville, sisters, Eunice (Marvin) Loppnow of Green Bay, Gloria (Merlin) Robley of Reedsville, Sue Kiel (Bob Siehr) of Manitowoc, sisters-in-law Jan Lau of Brillion, Dorothy (Robert) Schnell of Manitowoc, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father Wilmer Ahrens, a brother Denver Lau, his mother-in-law Verona Shimek, father-in-law Rueben Reinke and a nephew Richard Loppnow. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy Nommensen will officiate. Burial will take place in the Westside Cemetery in Reedsville. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and then at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
