Henry J. Thiedeman, age 83, of New Holstein died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 21, 2012. He was born in Plymouth, WI July 8, 1928 to the late William and Matha (Sasse) Thiedeman. At the age of 2, Henry and his family moved to the Kiel area. He attended Fountain Park grade school and graduated from Kiel High School in 1946. Henry worked the family farm until he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in the Marine Corps from 1952-1955. While in Korea, he was with K Battery 11th battalion, 1st Marine Division. After the cease fire, he was transferred to the Demilitarize Police Company. After 6 years in the Marine Corps reserves he was honorably discharged in 1961. On May 18, 1988, he married Erna Reichardt in Kissemee, FL. Later on their marriage was blessed by Rev. Msgr. Peter Klauck at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was employed at Tecumseh Products of New Holstein for 32 years. He retired as the Machine Shop Superintendent in 1990. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church were he was an usher and Eucharistic Minister. Henry was also a member of Holy Trinity in School Hill for 20 years where he was an usher, greeter and Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading, and playing cards. He and Erna enjoyed their trip to Germany, Austria, and Luxemburg as well as their other trips they took throughout their marriage. Survivors include his wife, Erna of New Holstein; his daughter, Bonnie (Thiedemen) Whitman of Sheboygan; two sisters, Hertha Dedering of New Holstein and Janet Johnson of Camas, WA; his grandchildren, Shawn Whitman, Adam Gates, Crystal Wagner , and Rhianna Arentz; three great grandchildren, Hazel Steiner, Haeryn Greene, and Brystal Arentz; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Kandler of New Holstein, Evangeline Meyer of Chilton, and Janet Meyer-Steinmetz and her husband, Nick Steinmetz of Chilton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Dennis Thiedeman; two brothers, William & Alfred Thiedeman; a sister, Margaret Dedering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday afternoon, June 25, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Parish Director, Joe Zenk assisting. Military Rites conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 will follow at the church. Following traditional services, cremation will take place and inurnment will be held at King Veterans Cemetery.
