Howard Donald McVicker entered eternal life at the age of 88 on February 12, 2011, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Howard was born July 31, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Ansley Alfred and Zeda Mary (Hall) McVicker. Howard was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He completed graduate studies at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh. Howard and Adelaide were married on June 30, 1945 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, celebrating almost 65 years together this year. Howard and Adelaide made Pennsylvania and Illinois their homes. They moved to their present home in Brillion, WI in June of 1978. Howard was active in his church, St. Bartholomew of Brillion, serving as an Elder and President of the Congregation. He was President of the Calumet County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans from 2006-2007. He regularly volunteered at Shepherds Attic charity shop in Chilton. Howard served on several boards and commissions in Brillion, helping to beautify and promote the city. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years, serving as a President of the Brillion Chapter. He was Recycling Coordinator for the city from 1995 to 2008 and Ward 2 Community Chairman. He was active in the American Foundrymens Society during his years in the foundry industry. Howard was Vice-President of Manufacturing at Brillion Foundry before retiring in 1998. In their retirement years, Howard and Adelaide enjoyed local and worldly travels as well as playing golf and bridge with their friends. Howard excelled at wood working and was a skilled carpenter. He loved mechanical and technical innovations, including computer programming. Howard is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Adelaide (Garlow), daughter Laurie (Charles) Norris of Union, Ill, grandson Justin (Lyeanda) Norris and his great- grandson Harvey Edward Norris, all of Ringstead, England. He is predeceased by his son, Paul, and a brother, Roger. The Funeral Service for Howard will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Bartholomew Church, Brillion. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Mark Krueger with interment to follow at Brillion Community Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue at St. Bartholomew Church on Friday, February 18, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 AM.
