Imogene "Imie" E. Fictum, 84, of New Holstein passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at her home.
Imie was born June 26, 1933 in Manitowoc, WI to Dan & Olga (Teesch) Kretsch. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 and trained as a nurse at Lakeshore Technical Institute.
On September 10, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Fictum at Grace Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
Imie had worked at Rahr Malting Co. in Manitowoc, Oshkosh Motor Truck Co. in Oshkosh, Hipke Canning Co. in New Holstein and as a teacher's aid with special needs children in the Chilton School District.
Imie was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel. She taught Sunday School for many years and served as an officer on the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the New Holstein Homemakers and volunteered for Builders for Christ and other church activities.
Her hobbies included camping, sewing, cooking, playing cards with her Appleton friends for over 50 years, and visiting friends and family. She enjoyed her trips to the shack in Marinette County and touring throughout the country on many bus tours.
Imie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Don; her three children, Mark Fictum of Eau Claire, WI, Greg (Colleen) Fictum of New Holstein, and Amy (Denny) Galipo of Fond du Lac, WI; her grandchildren, Noah & Grace Fictum, Michelle North, and Catherine Clingensmith; great-grandchildren, Lillianna North, Deon Clingensmith and Noah Clingensmith; her sisters-in-law, Betty Kretsch, Jane (Vic) Wigand, Carol (Bill) Holsen, and Shirley (Al) Jurkevich; and her brother-in-law, Robert Fictum. She is further survived by several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dan & Olga Kretsch; a daughter, Linda Ann Fictum; a daughter-in-law, Marge Fictum; her sister, Beatrice Dietrich-Pritzl; her brother, Edward Kretsch; brothers-in-law, Norbert Dietrich and Cal Pritzl; a nephew, Larry Kretsch; and a niece, Melody Schmitt.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Road, Kiel, WI 53042. Rev. David Laabs will officiate. Imie will be laid to rest in the New Holstein Cemetery following the service.
Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family at Trinity Lutheran Church Thursday morning, April 12th from 9:00 AM until 11:15 AM.
