James "Jim" Hardie

June 3, 1959 — May 23, 2024

James “Jim” Hardie passed away earlier on May 23, 2024 in his home in Green Bay.  His Dad, Alexander A.J. “Bud” Hardie, age 86, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on July 15, 2024 at his Assisted Living in Green Bay.

James A Hardie (Jim) 64, was born on June 3, 1959, son of the late Alexander “Bud” and Loretta (Bormier) Hardie. Jim graduated from Reedsville High School, class of 1977.  He went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology.  Jim was also an ordained minister thru Northland Baptist Bible College.

Jim met and shared his life with his partner Tom Hart.  Tom preceded him in death in 2018.  Both Jim and Tom were very religious. Jim enjoyed gardening, decorating homes & business for the holidays & events with Tom by his side.

Bud was born February 25, 1938 in Harmony, PA, son of late Louis and Vada (Frye) Hardie.  He graduated high school in Pennsylvania and enlisted in the United States Navy.  He honorably served our county for 12 years before returning to civilian life.  On May 28, 1957, he married Loretta Bormier in Key West, FL where they met.  She preceded him in death on October 15, 2004.  Bud worked as a diesel mechanic for many years in Milwaukee & Manitowoc. He then was employed at Santa’s Best as (building maintenance) in Manitowoc until they closed. Bud always helped people out with whatever he could for anyone. He was a dog lover, having two special companions throughout his life, Bridgette and Ace.

Bud is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Shirley, Peggy, Thomas, Janet, Sally, Judy, Jo Ann, Hugh, John, Debbie, and Dan; special niece: Sandy (Ralph); close friends: Colleen Riley, Van (Dorothy) Neff, and Rose Mertens; many nieces & nephews.

Bud was also preceded in death by his 4 children: Melanie, Russell, John and James (Jim); siblings: William, Bonnie, and Alan.

A Memorial Service will take place for both Bud and Jim at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Bridget Flad Daniels.  Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 88 of Manitowoc.  Inurnment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Friends may call at Knollwood Chapel on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Bud’s & Jims name's. They will be donated to their favorite charities.
