James Micke, age 67, a resident of Forest Junction, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Jim was born on January 27, 1959 in Kaukauna, son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Mortell) Micke. He was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1976. Jim was a devoted sports fan. His television could often be found tuned to the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, or Bucks whenever they were playing. He also enjoyed following local high school sports and keeping up with area sporting events through the local newspapers.

Survivors include one brother: Carl (Nanci) Micke, Harrison; one sister: Donna Van Lanen, Brillion; five nieces and nephews: Ryan (Jennie) Micke, Lauren Micke, Christopher (Valerie) Van Lanen, Lindsey (Chris) Wanasek, Gregory (Sara) Van Lanen; great nieces and great nephews: Aaron (Madeleine), Allison, Vincent, Leo, Scarlett, Eliza, Will, Aliya, Wyatt and Nolan. Jim is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Joe and brother-in-law: Daniel Van Lanen.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Matthew Colle. Per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest next to his brother and parents at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Hollandtown at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:15 p.m.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Calumet County Sherriff’s Department for the care and compassion shown to James and his family.
