James John Schmitz, age 60, of rural Chilton (Brothertown), passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1963, to Judy (Mueller) Schmitz and Roger (Doreen) Schmitz. Jim attended New Holstein Elementary School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1981. Jim began his working career in New Orleans delivering pharmaceutical supplies and then working as a medical supply coordinator at hospitals. He moved back to the area where he gained employment with Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until the company ceased operations. Following Tecumseh, he worked at RR Donnelley in Appleton until he had his kidney transplant which no longer allowed him to work.

Jim is survived by his mom, Judy of Chilton; his father, Roger (Doreen) Schmitz of Sturtevant; his two brothers, Daniel (Theresa) Schmitz of Fond du Lac and Randy (Carol) Schmitz of Manitowoc. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Scott; his maternal grandparents, Walter & Lucille (Freund) Mueller; and his paternal grandparents, Clemens & Ermina (Morgen) Schmitz.

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Deacon Bernard (Pat) Knier will preside.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Jim's family at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Saturday, September 9th from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
