James J. Schwarz, age 70, of New Holstein passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton following a brief struggle with cancer. He was born September 24, 1943 in Sheboygan to the late Sylvester & Veronica (Nisler) Schwarz. He attended grade school at Holy Rosary Catholic School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1961. On September 5, 1964, he married Mary Gruber at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton. Jim was a devoted husband and loving father and worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 43 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Retired Union Members of IAM, a member of the Outdoors Inc., a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society and a member of the New Holstein Senior Citizens Club. He was an avid gun enthusiast, sheepshead player, and an honorary member of the Raccoon Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; his three sons, Jeff (Sharon) of Hudson, Eric (Sue) of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Jason (Kim) of Antigo; four grandchildren, Tyler (Maria), Drew, Zammy, and Zeke; his sister, Marlene Dickrell of Kiel; and his brother-in-law, Michael (Jana) Gruber of PA. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother-in-law, Leo Dickrell. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 PM on Friday, November 29, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Family and friends may call at Holy Rosary Church on Friday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of services.
