Janet was a vibrant, positive, and beautiful woman that will be greatly missed by many.

Janet M. (Loehr) Furtak, a beautiful, gentle, and giving soul, age 59, of Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 12, 2026. She was a loving mother and a great friend to many others. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed collecting different items.

She was born October 14, 1966, to Walter & Marian (Meier) Loehr. Janet attended the Consolidated Parochial Elementary Schools and was a 1985 graduate of New Holstein High School. On May 18, 1991, she married Michael Furtak at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary.

Her first job was working on the family farm. Janet then worked at Nazareth Heights before starting at Sargento Foods. She proudly retired at age 47 and maintained relationships with past coworkers and continued attending Sargento events.

She was an active member of Holy Family Parish, Round Table, Malone Area Heritage Museum and Town of Taycheedah Election team. She very frequently held leadership positions. She loved to volunteer in the school system and many other places.

During summers, Janet enjoyed hosting Dock Spiders baseball players. She welcomed the baseball players like family, kept in contact, and planned many vacations around visiting the baseball players and watching their games.

Janet enjoyed traveling to many places including Europe and the Caribbean, and she never ended a vacation without buying several souvenir T-shirts. When not traveling, she enjoyed connecting with people to gather more genealogy information, spending time at the farm, and helping others. Janet memorialized life through her many pictures.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Furtak, of Fond du Lac; two children, Nicole Furtak (special friend Austin Lauer) and Jason Furtak (special friend Kaitlyn Schmitz); three furbabies, Kiki, Clyde, and Pumpkin; two grandfurbabies Oliver and Malachi; her sister Viola (Dan) Steffes; aunts: Rosie Meier, Marilyn Smet and Margaret Voss; brothers-in-law: Mark (Lydia) Furtak, Lee (Lori) Furtak, Larry (Charla) Furtak, Steve Furtak and Scott Furtak: nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marian Loehr; two sisters, Marie and Betty; a brother, Henry; furbabies, Snuggles and Missy; a grandfurbaby, Kisa; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Marilyn Furtak, numerous aunts and uncles.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 (NOON) on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will take place after the Mass in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Janet’s family at the church in Mount Calvary on Saturday, September 26th from 8:30AM until 11:30AM.
