Janet Mae Rappel

Janet Mae Rappel, age 72, of Brillion, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Garrow Villa in Brillion. Janet was born on February 26, 1942 in the town of Newton, daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (Lorenz) Brandl. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1960. On January 5, 1963, she married Robert "Bob" J. Rappel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alverno. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1989. Janet was "jack of many trades." She worked as a beautician, was a cook at Silver Lake College and St. Mary's Catholic School in Brillion, was a librarian and janitor at St. Mary's Catholic School, cleaned houses, baby sat, and was a cake decorator at the old T&C Market. Janet enjoyed playing cards, crafts, reading, plants, flowers, gardening, crocheting, bird watching, baking for others, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish and the Bloedorn, Becker, Jensen American Legion Auxiliary #126. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Lynette and Roger Baroun of Taus; two grandsons: Kyle (special friend Dawn) of Taus and Kory Baroun of Brillion; siblings and in-laws: Ron (Ruth Ann) Brandl of Maryland, Mary Jane Lukes of Manitowoc, Yvonne Babb of Florida, and Steve (Lisa) Brandl of Reedsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, and in-laws: Lucille Pozorski, Marion Rappel, Agnes Shimek, Eddie Rappel, and Joseph Rappel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Timothy Brandt, with burial to follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Brillion. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion at Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will conclude the evening visitation.
