Jean W. Freutel, age 104, formerly of Brillion died on May 2, 2011 at Chilton Care Center. She was born July 21, 1906 in Elk Point, South Dakota to James Bertram (J.B.)and Josephine (Casy) Wilmarth. Jean was married to Fred Freutel. Jean and Fred lived in Souix City, Iowa a number of years and then moved to Brillion. Fred was affiliated with The Brillion Cleaners and Jean was a clerk at Sagermans Variety Store. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was also a member of the Ladies Guild at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. After Freds retirement they traveled and enjoyed visiting many U.S. National Parks. Jean was very proud of her status as a colon cancer survivor. Survivors include two nieces; Anne Bihlmeyer of Hartford, CT and Mary Ann ONeil of Honolulu, HI, and her dearest friend for 43 years; Meta Krahn of Brillion. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1985, three sisters; Lillian, Helen and Eva as well as two brothers; Jay and Joe. A memorial service celebrating the life of Jean Freutel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. The Rev. Kris Borns will officiate. Burial will be in the Brillion Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
