Jeffrey (Jef) J. "Gint" Goebel, age 66 of St. Cloud, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his home.
He was born December 25, 1948 to Clarence and Vera (Eiring) Goebel
He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1967.
Jef served in the Army from September 2, 1969 - March 31, 1972.
On July 6, 1974, he married Beverly Hass at St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein.
He was employed at Kohler Company until his retirement.
Jef was a member of the St. Cloud Athletic Club, Riverside Hunting & Fishing Club where he was instrumental in beginning the club's annual fundraising banquet, Kohler Quarter Century Club, avid golfer, and coached Little League and grade school. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and gambling. He was a member of the 1965 New Holstein High School State Baseball Champions.
Survivors include his wife, Bev and son Jason Goebel of St. Cloud; sisters-in-law, Lori Ann Goebel of St. Cloud, Sharon (Jerry) Hoehl of Eau Claire, and Nancy (Richard) Halfmann of New Holstein; brothers-in-law, Ron (Pat) Hass of Sheboygan Falls and Jim (Sue) Hass of Elkhart Lake; 13 nephews & nieces, Nick (Jackie) Goebel, Kim (Andy) Krieg, Kelly (Darin) Bowe, Travis (Heidi) Halfmann, Nicole (Mike) Peske, Tom (Nancy) Hass, Jeff (Donna) Hass, Beth (Chris) Miller, Tricia (Mark) Schnettler, Sonny (Ted) Anderson, Robin (Joel) Harrah, Tiffany (Scott) Chisholm, and Kristie Hass; special Uncle and Aunt, Chuck (Mary) Eiring, Aunts, Dori Eiring and Virginia Eiring; close buddies, Marvin Entringer & Bill Fuhrmann. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Vera Goebel and his brother, Robert Goebel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Military rites conducted by the St. Cloud American Legion, Harvey Blonigen Post 478, will follow at the church following the mass.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud on Friday from 2:30 until 6:15 pm when brief rites will be held.
