Jerome "Jerry" E. Wall

Jerome “Jerry” E. Wall, age 88, of Askeaton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and pillar of the community, passed away on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 22, 1935, to Richard and Mary (Sheahan) Wall in Askeaton, Wisconsin.

Jerry attended St. Patrick's Grade School in Askeaton and graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1954, where he was an active member of the FFA. On May 23, 1957, he married the love of his life, Donna Verbeten, and together they built a life filled with love and dedication.

For 40 years, Jerry devoted his time and expertise to the Brown County Highway Department, all while diligently managing the family farm alongside his brother Jimmy, and later in life with his son, Mark. His commitment to both work and family was unwavering, and his legacy will live on through the land he cultivated and the roads he helped build.

A devout member of St. Patrick's Church in Askeaton, Jerry served in various capacities, including co-chair of the booyah committee, choir member, and cemetery committee member. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his actions and interactions with others.

In addition to his professional and religious endeavors, Jerry dedicated 44 years of his life to serving as the Town Chairman of Holland. His leadership and passion for his community were evident in every decision he made, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna; their children Mark (Chris), Carolyn (Wayne) Green, Allen (Cecily), Valerie (Dan) Evensen, and Amy (Pat) Rietz; grandchildren: Lindsay (Tyler) Karner, Keegan Wall, Ethan (Allyson) Wall, Gary (Blue Blauert) Wall, Craig (Jess Foote) Green, Leah Green, Mitchell Green, Caitlin (Reidus Stokes II) Wall, Evins Wall, Nellie Biddle, Coletta Neumann, Ava Neumann, John Neumann, Hannah (Jeff) Christensen, Matt Evensen, Sean Rietz, and Erin Rietz; great-grandchildren: Adeline and Macklin Jerome Wall; one sister: Rose Gilsdorf; in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary; grandchildren: Alexis, Evan, Ian, Vance, and Eli Wall, his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Coletta Verbeten; siblings, in-laws, and other relatives.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Clare Parish - St. Patrick’s site in Askeaton at 7815 St. Pat’s Church Road, Greenleaf, WI 54126.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Brian Wideman and Deacon Ken Kabat.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at church on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  A prayer service will conclude on Sunday.  The visitation will continue on Monday morning at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Vincent Hospital Staff, and the Hospice and Staff at St. Paul’s Home for their care and compassion for Jerry and his family.
