Family was at the heart of Jerome’s life, and the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain a lasting part of his family’s lives.

Jerome A. Koehler, age 83 of Malone died unexpectedly Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at his residence.

Jerome was born on March 4, 1943, to the late William and Emma (Seuer) Koehler. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School in Marytown. On June 28, 1969, Jerome married the love of his life, Marlene Manderscheid, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. He and Marlene were parish members of St. John Baptist Church in Johnsburg. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys of being together. Jerome worked at Kiel Foundry for a short time before beginning his career at Tecumseh Products, where he remained for over 40 years until his retirement.

Jerome cherished the time spent with his family especially teaching his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance, passing along many life lessons as they raised animals and worked toward their 4-H projects. He was always proud of his family and enjoyed watching them learn, grow, and succeed. Jerome was a proud member of the Vintage Steel Club in Calumetville, where he enjoyed sharing his interest and spending time with friends. He and Marlene also treasured going to their camper in Algoma. When fall arrived, Jerome eagerly looked forward to deer hunting.

Jerome took pride in everything he did, whether it was meticulously caring for his yard, enjoying a good game of Sheepshead, doing word searches, listening to Jerry Schneider on Saturday mornings, watching Polka Polka on Sundays, or getting caught up in a good old Western anytime. Family was at the heart of Jerome’s life, and the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain a lasting part of his family’s lives.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Marlene; his children: Sheila (Keith) Oakley, Lisa (David, Jr) Mueller, Brian (Pamela) Koehler, Gina (Timothy) Owens and Aaron Koehler (Calvin); nine grandchildren: Noah and McKella Oakley, Jordan and Brayden Mueller and Nolan Mueller (Raegen), Zachary and Kaitlyn Koehler, Paige Owens (Hunter) and Morgan Owens; one step grandchild: Chase (Kaitlyn) Owens; two step great-grandchildren: Elliot and Edward Owens; brother: Gerald (Rosann) Koehler; and sister-in-law: Ellouise Koehler. Jerome is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gordon (Mary) Manderscheid, Mary Jo (Gary) Mertens, Barb (Ken) Schmitz, Michael (Marion) Manderscheid, James (Bonnie) Manderscheid, George Manderscheid and Stella Manderscheid, his nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gordon, his sisters and brother in-laws: Rosemary (Elmer, Sr.) Lefeber and Virginia (Milton) Schussman and his in-laws: Myron and Vivian Manderscheid.

Per Jerome’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Service for Jerome will be held at 3:30PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Pielhop Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave, New Holstein. 

The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1:00PM until 3:15PM. Jerome will be laid to rest in the Rothman Cemetery.
