Joan R. Broehm, formerly of Brillion, passed away Saturday morning, October 26, 2024 at Homestead Health Services in New Holstein.
Joan was born on August 10, 1942 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, daughter of the late Harvey and Anita (Koehler) Bernard. She was a graduate of Kiel High School. On May 12, 1962 she married Jerome “Jerry” Broehm at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2017. Joan farmed with her husband Jerry and was employed at Worthington Industries for over 45 years. She also waitressed at the Eagles Club in Chilton and at Deer Run in Brillion. Joan was a member of the Chilton Eagles Auxiliary Club where she held office at the state and national level. She was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert and the Christian Mothers. Joan enjoyed collecting bald eagles, Friday night fish fries, playing board games, card games (especially Sheepshead) and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children: Lori (Donald) Jacobs, Lisa Ditter (special friend Jim Sippel), Ricky (Penny) Broehm, all of Chilton, Tina (Roger) Grunewald, Kiel, Randy Broehm (special friend Michelle Ebert), Brillion; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ashley (William II) Blair and their children: William III, Eleanora, Josephine, Michael (Jenna) Jacobs and their children: Jerome and Madalene, Nathan and Ryan Jacobs, Aerial Ditter (special friend Hunter Beil) and their children: Jaxton and Milana, Nickolas (Brooke) Ditter, Mariyah and Hannah Broehm, Jamie (Marcia) Grunewald and their son: Karl, Travis (Mariah) Grunewald and their children: Ava, Everett, River, Tyler Grunewald and his children: Sophia and Theodore, Blake Broehm, Austin (Toni) Broehm and their children: Jase and Claire, Jarrod Broehm (special friend Jody Schaefer), Jake Broehm (special friend Valarie Kempen) with one great grandchild on the way; Lorraine Otto, Sam Popp, Jesse Johnson, Brian and Eric Smuckers and Eric Kempen; two sisters: Susan (Tom) Mullenbach, New Holstein, Jane (John) Korb, St. Cloud; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene (Paul) Schumacher, Curly (Donna) Broehm, Virginia Broehm, Ruth Broehm, Grace Broehm and Sharon Broehm; and an adopted sister: Fran Pitz. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings: Lonnie Bernard, Sandra Bernard, Larry (Donna) Bernard, Bette (Al) Buchholz; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arvin and Lydia Broehm; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rueben, Milford, Leo, Ronald, Eugene, Carl and Jim Broehm, Laverne (Harold) Pingel, Germaine (Oscar) Bratz.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Officiating at the Mass will be the Rev. Mike Betley.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
A Private Family Burial will have already been held at Potter Community Cemetery.
