Joan C. Feuerstein, age 88, of New Holstein, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018. She was born in New Holstein to the late Henry & Katherine (Mahlberg) Mauer. Joan graduated from New Holstein High School in 1947. On July 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert P. Feuerstein at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Joan worked for 22 years as the secretary for Holy Rosary Parish. She held the position of the New Holstein City Treasurer for two terms and served as a member of the election board for many years as well as volunteering at the New Holstein Library. Most important in Joan's life and among her proudest achievements, were her children & grandchildren. She closely followed the Badgers, Brewers, Packers, and Bucks. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing bridge, and golfing; having had the distinction of two holes in one in her career. Joan is survived by her daughter, Jane (Phil) Keifenheim of West Monroe, LA, her son, Scott (Michelle) Feuerstein of New Holstein, her daughter, Julie (Brian) Krueger of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Amy & Jill Keifenheim, Skyler & Shaelynn Feuerstein, and Amanda & Elizabeth Krueger; sister, Germaine Steiner; brother, Elroy "Shorty" Mauer, and her sister-in-law, Marian Mauer, all of New Holstein. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; sister, Lola (Robert) Snyder; brothers, James (Dorothy) Mauer and Robert Mauer; sister-in-law, Jean Mauer; brother-in-law, Oscar Steiner; and a niece, Nancy Scholz. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family on Monday, February 26th at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
