John G. Stellpflug John G. Stellpflug, 85, of New Holstein, died peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, July 25, 2012. He was born Nov 12, 1926 in Kewaskum, WI, a son of the late John W. and Ellen (Wunderle) Stellpflug. John graduated from Kewaskum High School and attended Marquette University. On May 29, 1948 he married Harriet Stoffel, his high school sweetheart. John was a third generation butcher; in 1948, he bought the Kewaskum meat market formerly operated by his father and before that his grandfather. He operated the market as "Stellpflug's Finer Meats Since 1879". In 1963 John and Harriet sold the market and moved to New Holstein and together opened Stell's Super Valu. In 1989 John retired and sold the business to his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dianne, who currently own and operate the store as Stell's Piggly Wiggly. John was a member of the WI Grocer's Association. John spent many years as a volunteer for the Kewaskum Fire Department as an ambulance driver and assistant chief. He belonged to the Kewaskum Businessmen's Association, Holy Trinity and Holy Rosary Congregations and was both president and secretary of the Holy Name Society. He was also a Kiwanis member and officer, in both Kewaskum and New Holstein, belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the New Holstein Chamber of Commerce and the New Holstein Airport Commission. John loved boating with his family and was a member of the Pioneer Yacht Club in Oshkosh. He loved to talk to everyone, everywhere, about everything. He loved to share his "Johnism's" with family and friends. However, the time he enjoyed the most, was time spent with his family. Family get-togethers were his favorite pastime. John was a man of integrity who instilled a strong work ethic in his children. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Harriet. He is further survived by son, Jack (Kay) and children, John (Heather) and their children, Quentin and Olive, Ben (Tanya), and Sam (Katy); daughter, Mary (Gary) Dreifuerst and children, Ellen (Dane) Johnson, Adam (Maggie) Dreifuerst and Paula Dreifuerst; son, David (Nancy) and children, Michael and Sara; Mark (Dianne) and children, Kyle (Loreen), Matthew (Maia) and Laura (Rick) Bruess; son, Luke (Liz) and children Ben and Eric; Robert (deceased), Stephanie Murray (Mike) and children, Hannah and Nicholas Stellpflug; Jane (David) Butcher and children, Andrea, Julia and Michelle Butcher. John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and his sister, Inez Stellpflug LaBuwi and his son, Robert Stellpflug. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein with the Rev. Harold Berryman officiating and Joe Zenk, Parish Director, assisting. Friends and family may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM and at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
