On Saturday, August 23, 2014, our deeply beloved father, Joseph A. Depies, succumbed to a five year battle with cancer at the age of 82. He was born January 9, 1932, in New Holstein to the late Joseph P. and Margaret (Bell) Depies. Joe graduated from New Holstein High School in 1950 and received a business degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1954. On October 20, 1951, he married Joyce Catherine Puetz in Charlesburg. Joe was the CEO for Depies Oil for several years. He was co-owner of Depies Firestone Store along with his brother, Paul, until retiring in 1997. He had also tended bar at Roepke's Village Inn in Charlesburg. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein where he was quite involved in doing multiple things for the church; a member of the Holy Name Society; and a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include his children, Philip Depies of Harrisburg, PA, Gloria (Daniel) Simmons of Fond du Lac, Stephen (Joni) Depies of Maple Grove, MN, Catherine (James) Nabak of Madison, Ann (Allan) Clarke of Appleton, Kenneth (Donna) Depies of Fond du Lac, Jane (William) Hamilton of New Lisbon, Mary (Daniel) Heisick of Swanville, MN and Susan Depies (Hugh Addison) of Milwaukee. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by immediate family, beloved wife, Joyce; parents, Joseph P. and Margaret Depies; brother, Paul; many in laws; and a nephew, Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Parish Director, Joe Zenk, and Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife, Joyce, in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday afternoon, August 26th, from 1:00PM until 4:45PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
