Joseph E. Barth, age 75, of Reedsville, passed away Thursday morning, August 20, 2026, at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital of Appleton, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born on April 18, 1951, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, son of the late Edward and Marcella (Moran) Barth. He was a graduate of Brillion High School with the Class of 1969. On August 12, 1972, he married Sandra “Sandi” Reese at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brillion. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2025. Joe worked on the family farm until the early 1980’s, and then worked at various area companies retiring from Chilton Products as a Production Supervisor. He was a very active member of the Reedsville Lions Club where he always helped with the Sweetheart Dance, collected glasses for Lions Recycle for Sight program, and participated in various club activities. Joe was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ Brillion where he used to teach Sunday school and participated in many church activities. He coached for youth softball, recreation league baseball, and was a former member of the Brillion Jaycees. Joe loved spending time with family, going Up North, watching the Brewers and Packers, and hanging with his kitties.
Survivors include his children: Stacey Barth, Stefanie (Scott) Smeltser, Christopher (Amanda) Barth; seven grandchildren: Joseph Smeltser, Jonathan Smeltser, Gabrielle Schaetzer, Bryce Barth, Bryant Barth, Lucas Barth and Madison Hathaway; two great grandchildren: Jerome and Czar Schaetzer; one sister-in-law: Carol Reese. Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his parents and wife, Sandi, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elvin and LaVerne Reese; brother-in-law: Lowell Reese and a great-nephew: Reese Williams.
To honor Joe’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private burial service will be held at Brillion Community Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Dr's and nurses at Ascension Calumet and St Elizabeth's Hospitals for the treatment he received while in their care.
