Joseph R. Micke

Joseph R. Micke, age 69, a resident of Forest Junction, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Appleton.

Joe was born on November 6, 1953 in Kaukauna, son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Mortell) Micke. He was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1972. Joe began his career at White Clover Dairy and later took over his family’s dairy farm. He was a long-time volunteer with the Forest Junction Fire Department. Joe enjoyed watching sports, especially the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. He loved his neighbors who became family to him and adored all his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two brothers: Carl (Nanci) Micke, Harrison, James Micke, Brillion; one sister: Donna Van Lanen, Brillion; five nieces and nephews: Ryan (Jennie) Micke, Lauren Micke, Christopher (Valerie) Van Lanen, Lindsey (Chris) Wanasek, Gregory (Sara) Van Lanen; great nieces and great nephews: Aaron, Allison, Scarlett, Eliza, Will, Aliya, Wyatt, Nolan, Vincent and Leo. Many friends, neighbors, and fellow firefighters, also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law: Daniel Van Lanen.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 ^th , 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy and Deacon Greg Van Thiel with burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Hollandtown.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Greg Van Thiel. The visitation will continue Thursday morning at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Forest Junction Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Joe.
