Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Nett, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Malone on Monday, January 12, 2015. Joe was born March 24, 1947 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, born to the late Arnold and Lucille Nett, survived by his wife Diane (Karls) Nett of 45 years, they were married on Feb 1, 1969 Joe served his country from 1966 to 1968 in the Army. With one tour of duty in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry, Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 22 Infantry earned the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of The Military Order of The Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), C/3/22 Association, Wisconsin 4th Division and American Legion. Later, he served his community as a member of the Mt. Calvary Volunteer Fire Dept and as an EMT driver. Joe loved to spend time with life-long friends, playing cards and talking. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years, oftentimes looking for excuses to possibly go fishing. He and his wife took many trips, traveling all 50 states seeing its great sights, many times taking his children and grandchildren introducing them to our vast country. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to sporting events. In addition to his wife, Diane, Joe leaves behind five children Michelle of Madison, Michael (Julie) of Fond du Lac, Scott (Jami) of Marytown, Lori (deceased) and Sara of Madison. He had five grandchildren Emily, Stuart, Adrian, Josie and Laney. Joe's siblings are Ann (Bernie) Hoppe of Fredonia, Pat (Fred) Thuecks of North Fond du Lac, Jim (Rosemary) Nett of Pocatello, Idaho, Sharon Nett of Fond du Lac and Jerry Nett of Fond du Lac. Preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Lucille Nett, daughter Lori, brother(s) Tom and Arnold "Jr" and sister Kathleen "Leany". A Memorial Mass will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner O.F.M. Cap will officiate. Military Honors, conducted by the Mount Calvary American Legion Abler-Engel Post 454 & State Military Honors will be conducted at the church following the services. Family and friends may call at the church Friday afternoon January 16th from 3:00 pm to 5:45 pm.
