Josephine M. Schreiner, age, 100, of New Holstein, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, with her family at her side at the Atrium Post Acute Care Center in New Holstein.
She was born January 19, 1916, in the Town of Stockbridge to Edward & Anna (Kaut) Wettstein.
Josephine attended grade school in Kloten. On August 11, 1938, she married Jerome Schreiner at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Kloten. Jerome preceded her in death on February 7, 1998.
Josephine had worked at the former Federated Store in New Holstein and with the Holy Rosary School lunch program for many years and at the former Leverenz Shoe Company along with her husband until they retired.
For many years, Josephine laundered the Altar linens at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she has been a member for most of her life.
Survivors include her son, ElRoy "Herbie" (Mary) Schreiner of New Holstein; her two granddaughters, Kim (Bill) Winkler of New Holstein and Lynn (Tim) Winkler of New Holstein; her great-grandson, Christopher Winkler of New Holstein; a sister-in-law, Joyce (Merlin) Lemke of Chilton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward & Anna Wettstein; her husband, Jerome Schreiner; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Schreiner; her sisters and brother, Catherine (Joe) Karls, Anna (Tony) Mueller, Mary (Henry) Achter, John (Armella) Wettstein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap. will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Josephine will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in New Holstein.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein on Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, and again at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM when brief rites will be held at the funeral home.
