Obituary

Julian S. Steffes, age 87, of St. Cloud, WI peacefully went to meet his Savior on Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born April 17, 1928 in St. Joe, WI to the late John and Amelia (Bittner) Steffes. Julian attended St. Joe's Catholic grade school and he graduated from New Holstein High School. He served in the Army Btry D 253d Armd FA Bn 6th Armd Div, Ft Leonard Wood MO; Korea 1951-1953. Julian married Rosemary Heimermann on April 14, 1953 at Marytown Catholic Church. Julian was a very hard worker using his skills as a carpenter and builder. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), (Post 1904), and the American Legion. Julian had a great sense of humor. He loved his wife & family, his daily walks with Buddy, his special dog and Protector. He enjoyed his hobby farm, playing cards with friends and relatives. He also loved the Brewers and Packers, and his weekly visits to tease the gals at Salcherts Meat Market. He loved music and was a terrific dancer. He was a very hard worker, cutting and chopping wood amongst many other projects, and caring for his beloved wife. We love you and will always miss you, and know you are at peace. He finished his final project, building his stairway to heaven. Survivors include the love of Julian's life, Rosemary Steffes; 8 children, John (Mary) Steffes, Julie (David) Schneider, Gary (Sue) Steffes, Mary Kay (Dennis) Nadler, Wayne (Sue) Steffes, Karen (Harry) Fannin, Claire (Jeff) Steiner, and Barbara (Lawrence) Fannin; 19 grandchildren, Katie (Jason), Kelly, Jake (Brooke), Kim (Josh), Brooke (Matt), Zack (Caitlin), Grant (Jess), Ashley, Fallon (Kory), Jeremy, Steven (Cassie), Wes (Nicole), Leah (Bob), Terah (Brian), Shawnna (John), Rayah (Cody), Branden, Kean (Saskia), and Maci; 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his brothers, Paul Steffes of New Berlin, WI, Ralph (Darlene) Steffes of LaCrosse, WI, Lawrence (Leonie) Schnurr; sisters-in-law, Sally Steffes, Shirley Steffes, Marge Steffes, and Lucille (Ralph) Loehr. Preceding him in death were his parents, John & Amelia Steffes; sisters, Angela (John) Burg, Dorleen (Orvin) Kleinfeldt, and Myrtle (Francis) Hall; brothers, Roland Steffes, Cletus Steffes, and David Steffes; father& mother-in-law, Anton & Verena Heimermann; sister-in-law, Martha Steffes; brother-in-law, Marvin (Joanne) Heimermann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Military rites at the cemetery following the Mass. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 6:45 pm and Tuesday morning at church from 10:00-10:45 am before Mass. A Prayer Service will be held at the Sippel Funeral Home following visitation Monday, February 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm.
