Obituary

Juliana Mathilda (Stephanie) Ruffing, age 81, of New Holstein, passed away with her loving family at her side at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton on Friday, January 3, 2025.

She was born on the family homestead on November 30, 1943, in the Town of Marshfield, near St. Joe, to Norbert & Angela (Koenigs) Stephanie. Juliana attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in St. Joe,

and graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1961.

On May 13, 1967, she married Richard "Dick" Ruffing at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe.

Prior to marriage, Juliana worked at several different businesses in Fond du Lac. The majority of her life entailed raising her seven children. She put her talent as a seamstress to use while raising her family. In addition to replacing countless zippers and tailoring numerous bride's and bridesmaid's dresses, she made well over 400 plush stuffed animals.

Not only did Juliana provide her talents as a seamstress, she was very active with the Holy Rosary Mission Quilters; she sewed and hosted the tying of the quilts in her home for the past several years.

Juliana was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the Christian Women's Society.

Survivors include her husband, Richard "Dick"; her seven children, Theresa Schleh of Plymouth, Michael (Mandy) Ruffing of rural Pulaski, Jane (Mike) Conner of Sussex, Connie (Mark) Rabe of Gilroy, CA, William (Uta) Ruffing of Longmont, CO, Carrie (Scott) Seidl of Green Bay, and Joseph Ruffing of New Holstein; 20 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sisters, Valeria (Lawrence) Kempf of Kiel, Kathleen Wagner of Malone "St. Peter", and Ann (Art) Hage of Appleton; her brothers-in-law, Ken Turba of rural Elkhart Lake "St. Anna" and Raymond Ruffing of Sherwood; her sisters-in-law, Rose Miller of the Milwaukee area, Helen Maciulski of Appleton, and Ellen Ruffing of Neenah. She is further survived by numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Norbert & Angela Stephanie; her sisters, Lydia Turba and Adeline (David) Winkler; her two brothers, Stanley Stephanie and Lester (Betty) Stephanie; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Raymond & Theresa Ruffing; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Wagner, Ed (Delphine) Ruffing, Charles (Alice) Ruffing, Robert Ruffing (Dick's twin), Mel Miller, and Tom Maciulski.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Carl Diederichs will officiate with Deacon Bernard Knier and Deacon Dennis Bennin assisting.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Juliana's family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061 on Tuesday, January 14th from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the funeral home Wednesday, January 15th from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.

Memorials in Juliana's name may be directed to the family for the Holy Rosary Mission Quilters.
