Kenneth “Ken” "Pa" "Papa" J. Koehler, age 72, of Chilton, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
Ken was born on March 20, 1952, son of Lorraine (Brantmeier) Koehler and the late John C. Koehler. He graduated from Brillion High School, class of 1970. Ken worked at the Brillion Iron Works in the Farm Division as a Tool and Die Maker for most of his career. When he left the BIW, it was only to pursue his love of nature. Ken lived in the brown house at Calumet County Park for many years, teaching people, taking photos of nature, and caring for the park, especially for the flowers he would plant. For years, Ken took almost all of the photos for the Brillion Wildlife Area. Above all, Ken loved his family. He was still close with the mother of his children, Shelley, and always loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his children: Kelly (Isaac) Torkelson of Fence, Amy Koehler of Green Bay, and Steven Koehler of La Crosse; grandchildren: Kapri (Aaron) Marquardt of Suamico, Kyle (Haylee) Brunette of Suamico, Kirsten (Jake) Jaworski of Pulaski, Keandre Koehler, Najeh Mitchell, Pejha (Emmitt) Herrscher, and Nia Mitchell all of Green Bay; great-grandchildren: Rylan and Layton Marquardt, Kaiden and Kolt Brunette, Isabella Jaworski, Aaliyah Herrscher, and Kia Herrscher; his mother: Lorraine Koehler; his siblings: Dennis Koehler, Doug Koehler, Jayne (Francesco) Piazzini, and Karl (Tammy) Koehler; mother of his children: Shelley; nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Koehler; one granddaughter: Kiyah Koehler; and other relatives.
Following Ken’s wishes, no formal funeral service will take place.
Memorials are appreciated in Ken’s name to the Brillion Nature Center or another place that will preserve and protect nature and the beautiful sunrises.
